The Arts + Earth Initiative was created by the Gordon Getty family in 2017 as a funding model to support exemplary charities who are making a difference in the two philanthropic areas of chief interest to the family: the arts and the environment. For the inaugural event on September 16, 2017, the Initiative selected both Earthjustice and The Center for Contemporary Opera as dual beneficiaries of all net proceeds.
A gala benefit was held at the Odette Winery in Napa Valley and featured Jennifer Hudson, Federica Von Stade, Carl Lumbly, Susan Graham, and Jake Heggie. Much joy was had by all who attended. We are very grateful to the Arts and Earth Initiative as well as the Getty family.
